A family tribute and an appeal following fatal collision

The family of Elsie Whitehead, age 71, of Reeth, who tragically passed away after a road traffic collision on Tuesday 27 January between Northallerton and Great Langton, would like to share the following message:

"We would like to thank the emergency services for their dedication, care, and compassion.

"We’re also incredibly grateful to the people who stopped to help when it mattered most — knowing others were there and willing to help has been a real comfort and something we will never forget.

"We have also taken great comfort from all of the support and messages of condolence received. We ask that we are not contacted by the media."

To reiterate the appeal we issued last week:
A red Kia Stonic left the B6271 near the Streetlam turnoff, which is north of Northallerton, and collided with a tree. It happened at around 6.55pm on Tuesday 27 January.

We would like to appeal for any witnesses to the collision who have not yet spoken to us.

We would also like to be contacted if you have any dashcam or CCTV footage of the collision or of the vehicle driving along the B6271 prior to the collision.
